If you like LinkedIn Tango, try Evenly
Tango on LinkedIn is a binary puzzle, the family also known as Takuzu or Binairo. Evenly is our daily binary puzzle. Two of its rules will feel like home, one is new to Tango players, and Tango's signs between tiles are gone.
What is the same
- Two kinds of tile. Tango has suns and moons, Evenly has light and dark tiles.
- Half and half. Every row and every column holds as many of one kind as of the other.
- Never three alike in a line, across or down.
- One answer, no guessing. Every board can be solved by logic alone.
What is different
- No = or × signs. Tango marks some pairs of tiles as the same or opposite. Evenly has no signs between tiles: you work from the tiles that are already filled in.
- One extra rule: no copies. No two rows may be the same, and no two columns. Tango doesn't have this rule. It matters only near the end of hard boards.
- Bigger boards later in the week. Tango is always 6×6. Evenly starts the week at 6×6, moves to 8×8 midweek and ends with a hard 10×10 on Sunday.
- More than one a day. Past days stay in the archive, and 300 practice puzzles from 6×6 to 10×10 don't touch your streak.
Tips for Tango players
Pairs and gaps first
Two equal tiles side by side push the other kind onto both ends. Two equal tiles with one gap between them push the other kind into the gap. It's the same habit you use in Tango, and it does most of the work.
Count on the big boards
An 8×8 line holds four of each kind, a 10×10 line five. Once a line has all of one kind, the rest of it is the other. On bigger boards counting opens up more than it does on 6×6.
Save the no-copies rule for the end
When a line could still finish in two ways, compare it with the finished lines that run the same way. If one way would copy a finished line, the other way is the answer.
The Evenly guide walks through all five techniques with pictures.
Questions
Is Evenly made by LinkedIn?
No. LogicSnack is a small independent studio, and Evenly has no connection to LinkedIn. Our boards come from our own generator, and our own solver checks each one before it goes live.
Is Tango the same as Takuzu?
Almost. Tango keeps two Takuzu rules, half and half and never three alike. It drops the rule that no two lines may be the same, and it adds = and × signs. Evenly keeps all the classic Takuzu rules and adds no signs.
Can I play more than one Evenly puzzle a day?
Yes. Every past daily Evenly stays in the archive, and the game page has 300 practice puzzles in five sizes. Practice puzzles don't touch your streak.
Is Evenly free?
Yes. You play in the browser on a phone or a computer. There's no app to install and no account to make.
