Shadeout is our daily Hitori, and it works well on paper: shade a number with your pencil and circle the ones you know must stay.
In the print dialog, choose A4 or Letter and turn off the browser's own headers and footers. Every sheet already carries the date and our address.

Practice pack: 24 puzzles
The 12 easiest Shadeout practice puzzles, then the 12 hardest, with all the answers on the last pages. The pack doesn't change, so you can print it again for the next class.

Shade numbers so none repeats in a row or column. Shaded tiles never touch side by side, and the rest stay connected.
No repeats. Among the tiles left showing, every number appears at most once in each row and each column.

One group. All the tiles left showing must connect to each other through their sides, so no tile or patch of tiles is cut off by shading.
Shade only repeats. A tile is shaded to hide a repeat, so every shaded number still shows once somewhere in its row or column.
Every puzzle has exactly one answer, and you can always reach it by logic alone.
Solving on paper
Circle a number as soon as you know it stays, then shade its twins in the same row and column. A number between two equal ones, as in 3 4 3, always stays.

Can I copy these for my class or club?
Yes. Print and photocopy as many as you like for your home, classroom, library or puzzle club, free of charge. Please keep the logicsnack.com line on each page, and don't sell the sheets.
Where are the answers?
On the last pages of each pack, numbered like the puzzles, 12 to a page. If you want to solve first, print the puzzle pages only: the print dialog lets you choose pages.
A4 or Letter?
Both. The sheets are sized to fit either paper, so you only choose it in the print dialog. Two puzzles per page gives bigger boards for young solvers; four saves paper.
Is there a PDF to download?
There's no file to download. Press Print and your browser lays out the pages. To keep a PDF, pick "Save as PDF" as the printer in the same dialog.
How often are there new Shadeout puzzles to print?
Every day. Shadeout gets a new daily puzzle at midnight, so the sheets for the last seven days change each morning. The practice pack stays the same.
